Production Director


Role Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Production Director to oversee our two manufacturing facilities. One is located in the West Midlands and the other is in the Southwest of England. In addition also responsible for our logistics team. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring operational excellence, driving productivity, and maintaining high-quality standards across all production lines. This role also includes the oversight of all subcontractors producing components for Solarport, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to our strict quality specifications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement strategic plans to increase efficiency and productivity, whilst reducing costs. Ensure alignment with the company's overall mission and objectives.

  • Operations Management: Oversee day-to-day operations of both manufacturing facilities, logistics and sub-contractors, ensuring products are produced and delivered on time, within budget, and to quality standards.

  • Subcontractor Management: Manage relationships with all subcontractors, ensuring they meet Solarport's quality and delivery standards. Conduct regular performance reviews, audits, and price negotiations.

  • Quality Assurance: Establish and maintain high-quality standards for all production processes and outputs. Implement continuous improvement strategies to enhance product quality and reliability.

  • Team Leadership and Development: Lead, motivate, and develop a high-performing production team across both sites. Foster a culture of excellence, innovation, lean manufacturing and continuous improvement. Implement comprehensive training programs to ensure all staff are proficient in the latest manufacturing technologies and processes, and fully understand and follow all company policies and procedures.

  • Compliance and Safety: Ensure all production activities comply with legal and regulatory requirements. Promote a safe working environment by adhering to health and safety standards.

  • Budget Management: Responsible for budgeting, financial forecasting, and cost control measures related to production and subcontractor engagements.


  • Proven experience in a production leadership role in the manufacturing sector.

  • Strong understanding of production processes, quality control, and cost management.

  • Excellent leadership and team management skills.

  • Ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with internal teams and external partners.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Willingness to travel between the two manufacturing facilities as required.
